The Friends of the Dominy Library are people like you who love books and believe in and support the Dominy Memorial Library. For over 30 years, The Friends of the Dominy Library has supported Dominy Memorial Library. Through membership dues, book sales, and fundraising initiatives, The Friends of the Library are able to purchase materials and sponsor programs, while sharing our love of books with the community.
Become a Friend
As a member of The Friends of the Dominy Library, you make a difference in the community. You can volunteer to assist with Friends and library events, read and discuss bestsellers in the book club, enjoy special events and activities, and stay informed with the Friends newsletter; plus, being a friend is a wonderful way to exchange ideas, experiences and have fun!
Membership forms are available here to download or can be picked up at the front desk of the Dominy Memorial Library. A single membership is only $10 annually, and we have different levels of Friends membership to choose what is best for you. Become a Friend of the Dominy Library today!
Book Sales
The Friends of the Dominy Library offers thousands of gently read bestsellers, classic and current novels, children’s books, out-of-print titles, and more during our book sales. All books are organized in categories to make shopping easier. Book categories include Art, Biography, Children’s, Cookbooks, Crafts, History, Inspirational, Large Print, Military, Mystery, Poetry, Romance, Self-Help, Science Fiction, Spy, Travel, Vintage and Westerns.
Books are only 50 cents an inch (The Friends’ staff stack the books and measure with a ruler). Magazines are a dime, and large format coffee table books, CDs, and DVDs are a $1.00. All proceeds benefit the library. Book Sales are held in the handicapped accessible book rooms downstairs of the Dominy Memorial Library.
Books for the sale are retired from Dominy Library, Forrest Library or donated from book lovers like you. We accept donations of hardback and paperback books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, sheet music, puzzles and board games. To donate, drop off books at the library during normal business hours (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri 10a-5p, Tues 10a-7p, Sat 9a-1p).

Book Club
If you love to read and talk about books, The Friends of the Dominy Library book club is for you! Our book club is a discussion group that covers a wide variety of literary tastes, reading books from authors such as John Grisham, Melanie Benjamin, Alice Barbara Kingsolver, Toni Morrison, Tara Westover, Bill O’Reilly, and Stephenie Meyer.
The Friends of the Dominy Library Book Club meets every other month on the 2nd Tuesday at 12:30 in the basement of the library to enjoy refreshments and discuss a book for about an hour. The book club books are chosen by members. You can join the Book Club with your membership to the Friends.
Annual Event
The Friends of the Library Annual Event is a free program held in March and is open to the community. From attracting butterflies and bringing back bluebirds to beekeeping, war planes of WWII, and the founding of Fairbury, we enjoy a different presentation each year along with refreshments.
